Apologies, Minecraft Has Swallowed My Soul

Ok I admit it, I've fallen way behind on my blogging duties..

But I do have a very valid reason.

Minecraft.

Most gamers may of heard about this, it looks simplistic, everything is made of blocks, and should remind you of the 8-bit era, so far the only "story" is that you have to just survive.

Your first day in-game will be spent collecting resources to build a shelter for when night falls. During the daylight hours you are relatively safe, barring falling off of a cliff or coming face to face with a Creeper.. More on him later.

You are only limited to what sort of shelter you can build to what you can imagine from a simple mud hut to elaborate castles or floating towers with lava flowing from the sides.

At night "bad things" come out, skeletons, zombies, spiders, skeletons riding spiders.. And more Creepers.

The Creeper's sole purpose is to blow you up. He makes no sound until he is right next to you, no footsteps, no moaning or breathing, But the moment you hear the tell tale Sssssss... Run and don't look back. This is the only warning you get before they explode, taking you and whatever you were building out.

Building a shelter is just the start, once you have a place to call home, you can start to explore.

Each new game creates a randomly generated map, complete with forests and caves to explore, if you get to the edge of the map the game will randomly generate a new section, in theory there is no end to the game world.

Scan through YouTube and you cam find some rather impressive creations from other players, mob spawners/killers farming machines and roller-coasters.

The only downside to Minecraft is the fact that if you let it, it will consume all if your free time.

I'm toying with the idea of setting up a server and possibly making some YouTube videos, I'll see how that pans out.
