I'm currently playing Big Time Gangsta from Glu games, much like mafia wars, or any of the other time consuming games on Facebook. Big Time Gangsta puts you in the shoes of a fresh out of jail "yoof" with the aim of reclaiming the "hood". In simple terms your goal is to take over the city.
You are required to take control of housing blocks, which generate cash on a timer, collect that cash and buy new "gangsta's" and weapons for your crew. Rinse and repeat.
Taking over the housing blocks is simple enough, select a house and you see how many people there are guarding it, then select how many of your gangsta's you want to send in to fight them.
Combat can be left to the game to resolve or you can tap wildly on the screen over the enemy to fire your guns a little quicker.
And that's it. That's all you do for the entire game, unlike mafia war's though you are not fighting against people. This is strictly single player. There are no leaderboards and nothing to entice you to do well, other than personal gratification.
If it wasn't for the in app purchases this would be a great little game to waste a few hours on, purchase "cred" in game for real money and you can buy really good weapons and gang members, but what is the point if your not playing against other people? Surely the idea of buying items with real money in this sort of game is so you can be better than the next person, to give you a step up. Spending real money on better gear in a single player game is like buying a Bugatti Veyron, parking it in your garage without telling anybody you bought it, and covering it in a sheet.
Only you know it's there, and it's only for you to know about.
This is currently free on the iTunes store, for free any game is worth a look.
But it has to work bloody hard for me to part with money for a single player game
